Utburd — the unburied infant who would not be hidden

The ghost of an unwanted infant, exposed or murdered, denied baptism and burial. It cries in a child's voice from the place it died, or jumps onto a traveler's back demanding to be carried to consecrated ground — heavier with every step. Also called myling.
